The Pinellas Lacrosse Alliance (PLA) is hosting a meeting June 5th at Clearwater HS. The meeting is to update county parents on where the sport is in regards to sanctioning in Pinellas. The PLA is very close to a proposed 3 year plan. Al Bennett, Pinellas County AD, is ready to green light this for 4 pilot schools: St. Petersburg High School, East Lake High School, Clearwater High School, and Palm Harbor University High School. The schools will offer both boys and girls varsity lacrosse.
The only hurdle at this point is financing. The County has agreed to put in a designated amount for the first 2 years and has asked the PLA to come up with an amount as well. The PLA’s goal is to come up with ALL of the money just in case the school district can not come up with their portion. Since everything aside from the funding is a done deal, the PLA is asking for your help to get these 4 schools into sanctioned lacrosse.
Tampa Lax Report is asking for interested parents to please attend the meeting on June 5th to voice their opinions. We are also asking that those with the financial means to support this movement monetarily to please donate to help these 4 schools get lacrosse off the ground.
