Week 5
- Berkeley Prep (7-2) – The lady Buccaneers celebrated Senior Night with 21-0 home win over Wesley Chapel on Thursday, which was their only game of the week. No games next week due to Spring Break. FHSAA currently ranks them at #25 in the State overall, #15 in 1A overall and 4th in 1A Region 2, slightly behind Academy of the Holy Names, but we expect that to change on Tuesday 18th when the new rankings coming out.
- Academy of the Holy Names (6-3) – Tough week for the lady Jaguars as the fall to long time rival Tampa Catholic 10-9 on the road. They did recover nicely with a solid 16-9 win over Riverview at home on Thursday. Even after dropping a game to Berkeley Prep the previous week, the FHSAA rankings still have them ranked ahead (by a slight .05 points). FHSAA currently ranks them 24th in the State overall, 14th in 1A overall, and 3rd in 1A Region 2. That most likely will change after this week but their strength of schedule is a plus.
- Tampa Catholic (8-1) – The lady Crusaders had an outstanding week winning all 3 of their games. Upsetting longtime rival Academy of the Holy Names for the first time in 6 years by a score of 10-9 at home on Tuesday, beating district opponent Robinson 16-2 on Thursday at home, then winning 16-7 on the road over Cardinal Mooney on Friday. No upcoming games next week due to Spring Break. FHSAA currently ranks them 44th in the state, 21st in 1A overall, and 5th in 1A Region 2. Expect to see them move up a bit in the FHSAA rankings in the upcoming week.
- St. Stephen’s (4-3) – The lady Falcons took care of business this week winning 8-7 on the road over Lakewood Ranch, which was the only game on the schedule last week. Upcoming week is going to be a tough one as they host a strong Manatee on Tuesday then travel to IMG on Thursday win at home against Cardinal Mooney. FHSAA rankings are not too kind to the lady Falcons as they are way down on the list (Strength of schedule possibly?). FHSAA currently ranks them 74th in the state, 37th in 1A overall, and 9th in 1A Region 3. Just outside Regional play consideration.
- Bradenton Christian (6-2) – The lady Panthers jump into this week’s poll with their convincing 16-4 home win over Clearwater Central Catholic on Tuesday. They did follow it on Thursday with 20-18 shootout win at home over Cardinal Mooney. No upcoming games for the lady Panthers next week due to Spring Break. FHSAA currently ranks them 62nd in the state, 32nd in 1A, and 5th in 1A Region 3.
Week 4
- Berkeley Prep (6-2) – The lady Buccaneers jump to the #1 spot this week despite their 11-6 home loss to a surging Sickles team on Monday and a little help from District rival Academy of the Holy Names 19-7 home victory over St. Stephen’s on Friday. They did rebound with a 21-1 home win over newcomer Shorecrest Prep on Tuesday. Only 4 more games remain on their schedule for the 2025 Season. One game on the schedule for next week before Spring Break, hosting Wesley Chapel on Thursday. It’s going to be hard to displace the young lady Buccaneers at the #1 spot, they also received a top 20 1A (14th) rankings for FHSAA’s latest poll.
- Academy of the Holy Names (5-2) – The lady Jags opened the week with a 20-2 home win against St. Pete Catholic, then closed the week with a 17-9 home win against previous #1 St. Stephen’s, knocking them back to #3 on our poll this week. Upcoming games at Tampa Catholic on Tuesday and hosting Riverview on Thursday. The lady Jags are looking like they are shaking off the previous week’s loss to Berkeley Prep, but need a big week to gain some ground on the young lady Bucs in FHSAA rankings.
- St. Stephen’s (4-3) – FHSAA rankings (85th overall) this week have not been kind to the lady Falcons but until we see them play more like opponents, we are still ranking them in our top 5 for 1A teams in our coverage area. 17-9 road loss to a very good Academy of the Holy Names drops them down a couple notches this week. More tough games coming up on their schedule – we will see how they hold up. Upcoming week shows only 1 game on the schedule at Lakewood Ranch.
- Clearwater Central Catholic (5-2) – The lady Marauders played one game last week, taking a 16-6 loss to a good Bloomingdale team at home on Friday. They did get a bump in this poll with the Calvary Christian loss to Tampa Catholic. Upcoming games this week at Bradenton Christian on Tuesday and Osceola on Thursday.
- Tampa Catholic (8-1) – The lady Crusaders break into the top 5 in our poll with their 6-5 home win over Calvary Christian on Tuesday. They did follow up with a 10-7 home victory on Thursday over All Saints’ Academy. Upcoming week will be a tough one as they face long time rival Academy of the Holy Names on Tuesday, District opponent Robinson on Thursday, and traveling to Cardinal Mooney on Friday. This week will be a good indicator on whether they stay in this poll.
Week 3
- St. Stephen’s (3-2) – The lady Falcons hold at #1 after taking 2 loses this past week. 8-5 road loss to Riverview on Tuesday and 11-7 home loss to 2024 1A State Champions American Heritage on Friday. Upcoming games with Out-of-Door Academy, the very young Angeline Academy for the 2nd time (?) and ending the week traveling to Academy of the Holy Names that is looking to knock off a top opponent… will it happen this week?
- Berkeley Prep (5-1) – The young lady Buccaneers jump up a spot with their upset 9-7 road win over Academy of the Holy Names on Wednesday. They did make a statement earlier in the week with their 20-1 home win over Clearwater Central Catholic on Tuesday. Only loss of the week came by a very good Community School of Naples (17-7) at home on Friday night. Upcoming game and a game to watch is Monday 4pm hosting a very hot Sickles (7 game winning streak) team.
- Academy of the Holy Names (3-2) – The lady Jags had a slight set back this week as they were upset at home by a young Berkeley Prep, but they did bounce back nicely with a comfortable 20-13 road win over Cardinal Mooney on Friday night. Upcoming home with St. Stephen’s on Friday night should be interesting.
- Calvary Christian (3-2) – The lady Warriors are holding fast at #4 playing only 1 game last week 15-2 win over St. Petersburg on Tuesday. Upcoming games with Tampa Catholic and a surging River Ridge team next week should be a good indicator if they can hold their spot in this poll.
- Clearwater Central Catholic (5-1) – Tough week for the lady Marauders as they take a 20-1 road loss to Berkeley Prep on Tuesday. They did bounce back with a big 18-0 road win over newcomer Shorecrest Prep on Thursday. Upcoming game against a solid Bloomingdale should be a good test for them.
Week 2
- St. Stephen’s (2-0) – No games played last week. Upcoming games at Riverview on Tuesday, hosting Angeline Academy on Thursday and hosting 2025 1A State Champions American Heritage on Friday night. Recommended game to watch.
- Academy of the Holy Names (2-1) – The lady Jags only played 1 game last week defeating Calvary Christian 19-7 at home. Upcoming games hosting Bradenton Christian on Monday, Berkeley Prep on Wednesday and traveling to Cardinal Mooney on Friday.
- Berkeley Prep (3-0) – The lady Buccaneers played only 1 game last week defeating Calvary Christian 11-10 at home in a tightly contested game. Very tough upcoming week for the lady Bucs as they host a hot Clearwater Central Catholic team on Tuesday, travel to our #2 Academy of the Holy Names on Wednesday, then host a very good Community School of Naples on Friday.
- Clearwater Central Catholic (4-0) – Welcome to the top 5 lady Marauders. Knocking off # 4 Northeast 7-3 at home on Wednesday then holding off a surprising River Ridge 10-9 on Thursday they have earned a spot in the TLR 1A Top 5. Upcoming games with #3 Berkeley Prep on the road Tuesday and new comer Shorecrest Prep on Friday. The lady Marauders have a chance to move up in this poll.
- Calvary Christian (2-2) – Two tough losses for the lady Warriors this week. 19-7 road loss to #2 Academy of the Holy Names on the road and a hard fought 11-10 road loss to #3 Berkeley Prep on Thursday. Upcoming games hosting St. Petersburg on Tuesday and traveling to a tough Palm Harbor University on Friday.
Week 1
- St. Stephen’s (2-0) – The lady Falcons had a tough season opener needing overtime to defeat Cardinal Mooney 12-11 at home on Tuesday, then a more comfortable 17-0 home win over St. Pete Catholic on Thursday. No games showing on the schedule for next week.
- Academy of the Holy Names (1-1) – The lady Jags are finding their way as they win a close home opener on Wednesday 13-12 over a talented Sickles team. Playing powerhouse Plant the very next day was a tough task as they lost 19-1 on Thursday. One game next week for the lady Jags as they face a hot Calvary Christian (2-0) team at home on Tuesday.
- Berkeley Prep (2-0) – The young lady Buccaneers hold their spot this week with 2 wins. 17-4 over Out-of-Door Academy on the road Wednesday and 13-4 at home over Bradenton Christian. Next week shows a MaxPreps scheduling error as they are showing simultaneous games with Northside Christian and Calvary Christian on Thursday.
- Northeast (1-0) – Only 1 game played by the lady Vikings last week with a big 24-3 home win over newcomer Countryside on Thursday. Tough games next week as they face a very hot Clearwater Central Catholic (2-0) away, looking to make an appearance in this poll on Tuesday and a solid East Lake team on Thursday at home. Should be an interesting week.
- Calvary Christian (2-0) – Welcome to the top 5 lady Warriors! Knocking off #4 St. Pete Catholic 12-2 on Tuesday at home and beating Northside Christian on the road 11-1 Thursday. Very tough week as the lady Warriors Face #2 Academy of the Holy Names on the road Tuesday and #3 Berkeley Prep on Thursday, also on the road. Possibility of moving up this week.
Pre-Season
- St. Stephen’s (0-0) – The lady Falcons had a terrific 2024 season ending with a 18-2 record, and a trip to the 1A State Final Four. The terrific run came to an end with a State Semi Final 16-4 loss to 2024 State Runner Up Lake Highland Prep. Graduating a talented group of 2024 Seniors, Sienna Cassella (Rutgers University) and Ashling Marshall (Bryant University) who accounted for 55% of the goals scored and 84% of the draw controls last season may be tough to repeat their 2024 success. Led by Senior Midfielder Haley Rosa (Florida Tech) and Senior Goalie Annesley Flint (Florida Southern) we still see them being the top team of District 10 and will compete in Regional Playoffs. Games to watch: home vs St. Pete Catholic Feb 13th, at Academy of Holy Names on March 7th, and home against Manatee March 18th.
- Academy of the Holy Names (0-0) – The lady Jaguars finished 13-5 last season ending with a Region 3 Semi Final 18-10 loss to Community School of Naples. The lady Jags have been realigned to District 8 and now are in Region 2. No longer will they be making the long trips down to Naples for Regional Playoffs. They now go north through powerhouse Lake Highland Prep. The lady Jags graduated talented goalkeeper Allie Ragano (Catholic University) and high motor Midfielder Reese MacDiarmid (Winthrop University) but still have a lot of talented players. Led by Junior Midfielder/ Draw Specialist Lauren Martinez (67 goals, 20 assists and 120 draw controls last season), we expect them to challenge for the top spot in our 1A Poll. Games to watch: home vs Plant Feb 13th, home vs St. Stephen’s March 7th, at Newsome April 4th. They are an immediate favorite in their new District 8 and expect them to make a run in Region 2 Playoffs.
- St. Pete Catholic (0-0) – The lady Barons went 13-5 last season losing in Region 3 Quarter Finals 12-8 at Gulf Coast to end their run. Graduating a large talented senior class led by Midfielder Jocelyn Smith (Ioana University), this may be a rebuilding year for the lady Barons. They have also been realigned in to a new District (9) by FHSAA. Should be a competitive District 9 playoffs with so many equally matched teams. Game to Watch: at old district rival St. Stephen’s Feb 13th, at district 9 rival Northeast Feb 25th, at Academy of Holy Names March 5th.
- Berkeley Prep (0-0) – The young lady Buccaneers were 6-6 last season with a very challenging schedule, losing in Region 2 Quarter Finals 9-5 to Edgewood. Leading scorer Attack Gwen Fuller has graduated so the lady Bucs will be looking for someone new to make up for her 4.8 points per game. Coach Wagner again has a challenging schedule for the 2025 season, which should prepare them well for District 8 Playoffs. Games to watch: at Academy of Holy Names Feb 26th, home vs Community School of Naples Feb 28th, home vs St. Stephen’s March 14th.
- Northeast (0-0) – The lady Vikings went 12-5 last season losing in the Region 3 Quarter Finals 16-2 on the road to Community School of Naples. Graduating 9 seniors from last season including Midfield/Attack Izzy Fowler who accounted for more than 50% of their goals scored last season, may make it a rebuilding year for the lady Vikings. FHSAA realignment has been kind to them however in moving Academy of Holy Names out of District 9 and will give them a chance to compete for a district title with so many equally matched teams. Games to watch: home vs St. Pete Catholic Feb 25th.
