Week 5

  1. Plant (12-0) – The lady Panthers rattled off another 3 wins this past week, most notably was their 11-6 home win over top ranked St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday night. No games on the slate for next week due to Spring Break. FHSAA’s latest ranking has them #4 in the state overall, #2 in 2A state rankings and #1 seed for 2A Region 3.
  2. Manatee (4-4) – The lady Hurricanes were 1-1 on the week knocking off Lakewood Ranch 20-4 at home on Monday, then losing 13-12 in a close game to St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday at home. The lady Hurricanes will not be idle like most teams next week, traveling to St. Stephen’s on Tuesday, then hosting visiting Cherry Creek (CO) on Thursday and Ohio’s renowned Olentangy Liberty on Saturday. FHSAA currently ranks them 20th in the state overall, 9th in 2A overall and #3 in 2A Region 3.
  3. Newsome (6-4) – The lady Wolves went .500 on the week with 23-0 win over Freedom on Tuesday and a 12-6 road loss to highly ranked 1A Community School of Naples on Friday. No upcoming games due to Spring Break next week. FHSAA currently ranks them 23rd in the state overall, 10th in 2A overall, and 4th in 2A Region 3.
  4. Steinbrenner (8-3) – Easy week for the lady Warriors as they add 2 more games to the win column, outscoring their opponents 36-6. No games scheduled next week due to Spring Break. FHSAA currently ranks them 38th in the state overall, 20th in 2A overall and 6th in 2A Region 3.
  5. Sickles (11-2) – The lady Gryphons are on an 11-game winning streak, defeating Freedom for a second time this season and then winning 18-6 over Calvary Christian on the road Friday night. No games on the schedule next week due to Spring Break. FHSAA is showing some love to the lady Gryphons due to their terrific record currently ranking them 19th in the state overall, 8th in 2A overall, and 2nd in 2A Region 3. Not taking account of their opening day loss to Steinbrenner on the first game of the season.

Week 4

  1. Plant (9-0) – The lady Panthers notch 2 more wins this past week, most notably was their 13-9 win over visiting Paul VI from Virginia on Thursday night. Upcoming games hosting Riverview on Monday, visiting Durant on Tuesday and closing the week hosting powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday. The latest FHSAA rankings have the lady Panthers as #1 in 2A and #3 in the State.
  2. Manatee (3-3) – The lady Hurricanes took care of business winning their only game of the week 7-4 over visiting Eastern (KY) and are back to .500. Not much loved showed to them in the FHSAA rankings this week 17th in 2A and 37th in the State. 2 upcoming home games: Lakewood Ranch on Monday and St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday.
  3. Newsome (5-3) – The lady Wolves went 1 and 1 on the week. Not surprised with the 18-10 loss to the 1A powerhouse Lake Highland Prep on the road Monday or the comfortable 24-1 home win over Durant on Wednesday. Upcoming road games with Freedom on Tuesday and a very good Community School of Naples on Friday. FHSAA rankings show them 6th in 2A and 16th in the State.
  4. Steinbrenner (6-6) – The lady Warriors had a tough week with a narrow 10-8 win over a rising Bloomingdale team on Thursday then losing 17-5 to Riverview on Friday both at home. Upcoming road games with Alonso and Durant this week. FHSAA rankings shows them 13th in 2A and 28th in the State.
  5. Sickles (9-2) – Two more wins this week for the lady Gryphons as they have now won 9 straight since going 0-2 the first week of the season. Notable 11-6 road win over Berkeley Prep on Monday, followed up by a 19-0 shutout home victory over Wharton on Thursday. 6 games remaining in their season after opening with 3 straight 3 game weeks. Upcoming games with Freedom at home Wednesday and traveling to a good Calvary Christian team on Friday. FHSAA rankings list them as #7 in 2A and 17th in the State. Their early in the season home loss to Steinbrenner keeps them from jumping past them in our poll.

Week 3

  1. Plant (7-0) – The lady Panthers are rolling with 3 wins this past week, most notably was their 11-8 win over the now 2A powerhouse Ponte Vedra on Friday night. Only 2 games on the schedule this upcoming week. Game to watch would be Thursday match up with Paul VI out of Virginia.
  2. Manatee (2-3) – Do not let their record fool you; the lady Hurricanes are a top tier team in our area. All 3 loses have been to some of the better teams in the State. Losing to IMG and a very good Vero Beach team last week, we expect to see the lady Hurricanes to get back to .500 with only 1 game on the schedule taking on a visiting Eastern (KY) on Saturday 3/8 2pm.
  3. Newsome (4-2) – The lady Wolves firmly grasped the #3 spot in our poll with their 15-5 home win over Steinbrenner on Tuesday last week. Upcoming home game to watch on Monday vs 1A State Runner Up Lake Highland Prep. We do not expect to see any movement for the lady Wolves in our poll next week.
  4. Steinbrenner (4-2) – The lady Warriors loss to Newsome last week keeps them in the 4th  spot in our polls this week. Interesting upcoming home match up with Riverview on Friday 3/7 night 6pm should be a great game to watch.
  5. Sickles (7-2) – The lady Gryphons have rattled off 7 straight wins after going 0-2 in the first week of the season. They are now just past the halfway point of their 17-game regular season schedule with 9 games being played in the first 3 weeks. They had 3 comfortable wins last week outscoring their opponents 68-2. Upcoming match up with Berkeley Prep on Monday night on the road should be a good one.

Week 2

  1. Plant (4-0) – The lady Panthers knocked off rival Newsome 16-4 at home on Thursday then blanked visiting Starr’s Mill (GA) 18-0 on Friday night. Busy upcoming week for the lady Panthers as they open on the road Monday at Bloomingdale, Wednesday at District 11 rival Steinbrenner and close the week hosting the now 2A Ponte Verda Sharks on Friday night. Recommended game to watch.
  2. Manatee (1-1) – The lady Hurricane had a big 20-5 win over visiting Starr’s Mill (GA) on Thursday which was their only game of the week. Upcoming games at IMG on Wednesday and Riverview on Thursday should provide some competitive games, but the game to watch will be Saturday as they host powerhouse Vero Beach at 11 am.
  3. Newsome (2-2) – Tough week for the lady Wolves as they lose back-to-back games. Losing to our #1 Plant 16-4 Thursday on the road, then falling to a very good Lake Mary 16-9 on Saturday afternoon at home. Upcoming games the lady Wolves have a big matchup with Steinbrenner at home on Monday (game to watch) and close the week on the road at Alonso Thursday night.
  4. Steinbrenner (4-0) – Easy week for the lady Warriors as they had 2 comfortable home wins 16-3 Tuesday vs Robinson and 17-3 vs Freedom on Thursday. Tough upcoming games for the lady Warriors as they travel to Newsome on Monday and host #1 Plant on Wednesday.
  5. Sickles (4-2) – The lady Gryphons rattled off 3 more wins this week 17-6 at Bradenton Christian on Monday, 19-1 at Alonso on Tuesday and 20-3 at Bloomingdale on Thursday. Another 3 upcoming games (Durant, East Lake, Freedom) this week as the lady Gryphons will reach just over the halfway point of their season (17 total) with 9 games played in the first 3 weeks.

Week 1

  1. Plant (2-0) – The lady Panthers opened the 2025 season with 2 road victories: 21-0 win at Robinson on Tuesday and 19-1 victory over Academy of the Holy Names on Thursday. Upcoming games at home vs Newsome on Thursday 20th and Starr’s Mill (GA) on Friday.
  2. Manatee (0-1) – The lady Hurricanes played only 1 game opening week taking a 14-8 home loss to Community School of Naples on Thursday. Only 1 game on the schedule for upcoming week Thursday vs Starr’s Mill (GA).
  3. Newsome (2-0) – The lady Wolves had 2 home wins last week 17-3 over Bloomingdale and 14-10 over Riverview. Only 1 game on the schedule this upcoming week at #1 Plant on Thursday.
  4. Steinbrenner (2-0) – The lady Warriors knocked off Sickles 13-10 on opening night in a very close game to move up in the poll. They also beat Bloomingdale 14-6 on Thursday to close the week. Upcoming games hosting Robinson (Tuesday) and Freedom (Wednesday).
  5. Sickles (1-2) – They lady Gryphons had a tough opening week, losing to rival Steinbrenner on Monday at home 13-10 and then losing 13-12 on the road to Academy of the Holy Names on Wednesday. They seemed to get back on track Friday with a 16-5 road win over Tampa Catholic to close the week. 3 upcoming games on the road this week at Bradenton Christian, Alonso, and Bloomingdale.

Pre-Season

  1. Plant (0-0) – The State Runner Up lady Panthers went 23-1 in 2024, going undefeated in regular season play for the very first time in program history. Advancing to the State Final 4 for the 2nd year in a row, where they lost in the State Final 10-8 to nemesis Bartram Trail. For 2025 the lady Panthers have been moved into District 11 with the recent FHSAA realignment, joining Region 3 Final opponent Manatee (18-1) and bringing along Steinbrenner (10-5) from District 9. The new District 11 is now stacked with some very strong teams, should make for a very interesting District Playoffs. The lady Panther did graduate some talented players, but still have a very deep Senior class led by McKenzey Craig A/M (Johns Hopkins), Ashlyn Bell A/M (Radford University) and, Katie Fisher M/A (Rutgers University) scoring a combined 199 goals and 114 assists last season. We expect to see the Lady Panthers make another run this year and see them for the 3rd straight year reaching the Final Four. Coach Chapman has put together another very challenging schedule for her team with games to watch: Neutral site game against Georgia, State Semi Finalist: Starrs Mill on Feb 21st, home against Ponte Vedra (now 2A) on Feb 28th, Paul VI (VA) March 6th, 2024 State Champion Colorado Academy (CO) at IMG on March 25th and an end of season away game at 2024 2A State Champion Bartram Trail on April 4th, which could be a prelude to the 2025 2A State Final. We wish Coach Chapman the very best of luck as this will be her last season as Head Coach at Plant. She has been a great supporter of Tampa Lax Report and has coached in every TLR Senior All Star Game since we started in 2018. Thank you for all you have done for TLR and our lacrosse community!
  2. Manatee (0-0) – The lady Hurricanes finished 2024 with an 18-1 record, their only loss of the season was against Plant in the Region 3 2A Final with a score 17-10 on the road. The lady Hurricanes stayed in District 11 with the realignment this year, but FHSAA did them no favors. Graduating only 3 seniors from last year, like Plant the strength and depth of the team is in their 2025 Senior Class, led by Midfield/Attack/Draw Specialist Grace Knowles (UNC Charlotte) and Attack Gabby Waples (Radford University). Tough 2025 Schedule for the lady Hurricanes. Starting with Community School of Naples at home on Feb 13th, Starrs Mill (GA) on Feb 20th, Vero Beach at home on March 1st, Olentangy Liberty (OH) on March 22nd and Colorado 5A State Champion Colorado Academy on March 24th. We have no doubt the lady Hurricanes will take up where they left off last season and expect to see them in the 2A Region 3 Final.
  3. Newsome (0-0) – The lady Wolves finished 15-4 last season and were knocked out of the Regional Semi Finals by Manatee 8-6 on the road in a close low scoring game. May be a rebuilding year for the young lady Wolves as they graduated a very strong 2024 (9) class who accounted for over 60% of their offense (167 out of 266 goals and 91 out of 137 assists). They still have very good Goal Keeper in Senior Macy Clay and Defensive standout Senior Reece Hague. Good news is they were moved out of the District 10 2A with Plant, Manatee, and Steinbrenner in the recent realignment. The lady Wolves will be the dominate team in their new District 9 2A and will make regional play. They have a new coach (Erin Ebert – 3rd head coach in 3 years) that has put a very tough schedule together for the young Wolves team. Games to watch: At Plant Feb 20th, at power house Lake Highland Prep March 3rd, at Community School of Naples March 14th and hosting Academy of Holy Names on April 3rd.
  4. Sickles (0-0) – The lady Gryphons 2024 Season was their best so far going 15-5, knocking off Steinbrenner 9-8 for the first time, going on a 13-game winning streak, and reaching Regional Playoffs for the 3rd straight year. Graduating 6 seniors along with a new head coach this could be thought of as a rebuilding year, but the lady Gryphons still have their leading scorer Senior Attack Alexa Desart (83 goals last season), and stellar Senior Goalkeeper Emma Zimmerman, they still have enough talent to make it 4th straight year in Regional Playoffs, but being in one of the toughest Districts (11 2A) in the State may make it difficult. Games to watch: Home opener vs Steinbrenner Feb 10th, home vs Newsome March 31st. These games should be a good indicator if they will make Regional play.
  5. Steinbrenner (0-0) – To most teams a 10-5 Record would be considered a fantastic season but the standard the lady Warriors have set the previous 4 years, not advancing past the 1st round of Regional Playoffs was a disappointment. We did see the expected drop off after graduating a stellar 2023 class and losing top player 2025 D/M Audrey Wehle for the season did not help matters. Good news for the lady Warriors Audrey Wehle (Rollins) is back this season along with Senior Attack Ciena Solis and Junior Middy Elle Edwards (UNC Charlotte). We may see the lady Warriors back in the mix for teams fighting it out in Regional Playoffs. Again, FHSAA did not do them any favors realigning in District 11 2A. We could see movement in this poll after the first night when they play Sickles. Games to watch: At Sickles Feb 10th, At Newsome Feb 24th, home vs Riverview March 7th, and at Bishop Moore April 2nd.
